(BMS) -- BRISTOL, Tenn. (Friday, April 3, 2009) – An impressive array of PGA players will take part in the region’s most acclaimed golf outing, the 22nd Annual Bristol Morning Rotary Golf Tournament, Monday, April 27, 2009 at The Virginian Golf Club.
Headlining the list of professional players taking part in the tournament is Joey Sindelar, who is third on the Champions money list this year and has over $12 million in career earnings. Others participating are Cliff Kresge, Keith Nolan, Mike Smith, Brennan Webb and John Morse. Also in the field is Mike Hulbert who is well known to area golfing enthusiasts. He was an All-American golfer at East Tennessee State University in 1979 before turning pro in 1981. The seven confirmed PGA players have combined for 15 professional wins and over $21 million in career earnings.
Other players not yet confirmed but scheduled to take part in the tournament are former ETSU All-American Garrett Willis, Donnie Hammond, Gary Hallberg, Russ Cochran and James Mason. Those players have a combined 11 professional wins and in excess of $16 million in career earnings.
Cumberland Resources Corporation is the title sponsor of the Golf Classic which benefits children’s organizations throughout the Tri-Cities. To date, the Morning Rotary Club of Bristol has raised $850,000 for various youth charities through the tournament.
Levels of participation are as follows: Hole Sponsor (two players with a printed sign on tee box during event) $700; Masters Banner Recognition (four players) $1,600; Corporate Partner (four players and a PGA player) $3,200; Underwriter – Event Sponsor (four players and a PGA player) $6,000.
Registration and breakfast will take place at 7:30 a.m. on April 27, followed by a PGA Pro Golf Exhibition at 9 a.m. Tee-off is at 10 a.m. Lunch will be ordered at holes 9 and 18 for participants.
