(BMS) -- BRISTOL, Tenn. (Friday, May 22, 2009) – ESPN.com once proclaimed it one of the top 10 tickets in all of sports to attain, and numerous times it has been voted NASCAR’s most popular race.
Tickets for the Aug. 22 Sharpie 500 weekend will be on sale June 9 for the Bristol Motor Speedway event that long has been a dream stop on every NASCAR fan’s must-do list.
“We had this same situation with the spring race,” said BMS president Jeff Byrd. “While we still have the highest renewal rate in the sport with our individual fans, corporate clients have had to make concessions and haven’t been able to purchase as many tickets as they have previously. In March, we made those available to fans who had been trying for years to get Bristol tickets.
“We sold a lot of these packages when they were made available in the spring, but we still have some left and they will be available June 9. We regret some of our partners have had to make some adjustments with their tickets, but this does open up a rare opportunity for fans who want to be a part of NASCAR’s most popular race weekend.”
The Food City 500 in March was the 54th consecutive sellout Sprint Cup event at Bristol Motor Speedway, a NASCAR record. Byrd feels certain that the streak will continue with the Sharpie 500.
“We are very fortunate to have the absolute best and most loyal fans in all of racing,” he said. “I have always said the fans are the folks we work for, the people who sign our checks. It’s extremely important to us to make sure the fans are always our number one priority and I believe that is why they have always supported us so passionately.
“Believe me, we are aware of how lucky we are to have such devoted fans, which is why we continually try to add to the overall Bristol experience. We added events in March and we’re adding a NASCAR Modified race in August that we think will give our fans even more value.”
The August race week features four races under the lights, including the O’Reilly 200 Camping World Truck Series race and the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Whelen Modified Series event Wednesday, Aug. 19, followed by the Food City 250 Nationwide Series race Friday, Aug. 20. The weekend culminates with the Sharpie 500 Saturday, Aug. 21.
The August ticket package includes tickets for both the Sharpie 500 and the Food City 250. Package prices begin at $145. Also, anyone purchasing a package will be eligible for the buy one, get one free Wednesday night ticket, which includes both the O’Reilly 200 truck event and the Whelen Modified 150.
