LMS -- 2009 Summer Shootout Series Schedule

(LMS) -- CONCORD, N.C. (June 3, 2009) - Exciting school bus racing, a giant fireworks extravaganza and CRASHCars, an entry level stock car division that features character-themed race cars, are all on tap for the 16th annual Summer Shootout Series which kicks off June 9 and runs each Tuesday night through Aug. 11 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

In addition to the special attractions, each night of the 10-race Summer Shootout features a full slate of Legends Car and Bandolero racing.
Tickets are just $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 12 while children under 6 are admitted free.

The Legends Car and Bandolero divisions will battle each Tuesday night on Lowe's Motor Speedway's frontstretch quarter-mile oval.

"The Summer Shootout Series is an affordable way for the whole family to come out, have some fun and enjoy grassroots racing at Lowe's Motor Speedway," said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway. "It's a great time for fans to come and see some of the world's best short track action at the world's greatest speedway.

"Summer Shootout is a unique series of racing where fans get to watch drivers who may some day make it to the big leagues of NASCAR," added Smith.

"Drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch, David Ragan, Reed Sorenson and Steve Wallace, all started their careers by racing in the Summer Shootout Series."

CRASHCars and school bus racing will each be featured four times during the 10-race series, as well as, a drifting exhibition and fireworks display.

More than 150 race cars are expected to jam the pit area during each night of the Summer Shootout as drivers from across the country participate in Legends Car and Bandolero competition.

Legends Car racing is divided into four categories based on a driver's experience. The Bath Fitter Pro division features veteran drivers while the Briggs Collision Semi-Pro category is for those with limited Legends Car experience. The Young Lions division is for those new to Legends Car racing and the Masters division is for drivers 40 years of age and older.

The Bandoleros are divided into two divisions with competitors grouped by age. The Bandits division is for racers ages 8 to 11 and the Young Gun/Outlaw category features drivers ages 12 and older.
