GLADEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The owners of the Nashville Superspeedway have announced that no NASACAR races will be held at the concrete track in 2012 and that it may be put up for sale.

Dover Motorsports Inc. announced its plans Wednesday.

The company has been trying unsuccessfully to secure a NASCAR Sprint Cup race since 2001 and superspeedway general manager Cliff Hawks says the track cannot continue without a date, despite what he calls a strong Nashville market.

Dover opened the 1.33-mile track 10 years ago. The superspeedway has hosted NASCAR trucks and Nationwide races and also had a slot on the Indy Racing League schedule before losing that after the 2008 season.
