Dixie Chicks singer sued for defamation

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines is the target of a defamation lawsuit by the stepfather of one of three 8-year-old boys slain in West Memphis. Maines spoke out for three people convicted of the slayings and alleged the stepfather was instead involved in the killings.

Terry Hobbs, stepfather of Steve Branch, who was killed 1993 with Christopher Byers and Michael Moore, filed suit in Pulaski County Circuit Court on Nov. 25. The suit names all three members of the Dixie Chicks, but focuses on Maines, identified by her married name of Natalie Pasdar.

The suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages. Hobbs claims he suffered loss of income, injury to his reputation and emotional distress.

I didn't know that the dixie chicks were still together. They should learn to keep their big mouths shut.

This group is a joke now. In fact, it would be better off if they split and went into new careers. It's a major has-been.

I don't see how this group even exist. They are so rude and smart mouth. I don't see why anyone would want to listen to them sing or watch them anywhere. Get another life girls.

For heaven's sakes, when is she going to learn to keep her big mouth shut? You would have thought she would have learned after the mess that hurt their career a few years back.

I'm so tired of these pretentious, pompous, and downright ludicrous "entertainers" using the microphone to broadcast their skewed politics instead of what they are paid to do: perform. Court Jesters are not Kings, regardless of their delusions or their conceit.
