Knoxville (WVLT) - A shirt...a tie...no fun? Well, it all depends on where you wear it. Volunteer TV's Jim Freeman is wearing his at the Street Rod Nationals South right here in Knoxville.
Lots of hot cars this weekend at Chilhowee Park. And every car has a story.
"It's a 350-small block, 350-turbo. First time I ever had it out. I don't know a thing about it," says car owner Aaron Minchey from Beth Page, TN.
Wife Judy applies the elbow grease.
"Just shine! Let it put the people's eyes out as they look at it," says Judy Minchey.
Some drivers out-did their cars.
"My first car was a 1930 Model-A Coupe, and I always wanted another one. So, I wound up with one," says Jim Langham from Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
It's just not a "hot" ride unless it has the proper accessories.
"I think it was the second date that he, I told him I didn't scare easy, but he definitely scared me," says Jim's wife, Marguarita.
"I tried to impress her once, but I blew both the head gaskets on it. So, I won't do that anymore," says Jim.
Fred did all the work on his car except the upholstery...claims he can't sew. "The only time I had it on a trailer was when I took it to get the interior done," says Fred Nichols from Columbus, Ohio. "I had it tore apart till you couldn't tell I had a car in the garage, and I put it all back together."
Fred's gotten that street rod out of the garage and looks like lots of other people's come up with the same idea as well this weekend at Chilhowee Park.
The 33rd annual Street Rod Nationals South runs Saturday from 8:30 till 5:00 and Sunday from 8:30 till 2:00 at Chilhowee Park.
