Are you celebrating National Proposal Day 2013?

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- The National Proposal Day Holiday is meant to be light-hearted and fun. Most people won't be making marriage proposals Wednesday, March 20th to celebrate but it's a good time to bring up the top with your significance other.

The day was invented by John Michael O'Loughlin after his cousin's boyfriend strung her along for years without popping the question. It's said that he got fed up and decided to dedicate a day to marriage proposals.

O'Loughlin chose the Vernal Equinox in March and the Autumnal Equinox in September to celebrate the holiday, two times a year that the day and night are equal. Perfect days in his mind because the equinoxes symbolize the equal effort of two required to comprise a successful marriage.

But don't worry if you're not planning a proposal for March 20th because the holiday is chance to bring up the conversation about future proposal plans.
