NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Books and movies including "The Help" and "Deliverance" will be topics at the three-day biannual conference of the Society for the Study of Southern Literature in Nashville.

"The Help" will be evaluated as a fair representation of the civil rights experience. "Deliverance" will be discussed within the framework of whether Burt Reynolds is "the last Southern man."

Topics also will include Southern music, Southern food in Southern literature, Tennessee poets, new Southern women, country music and the legacies of Robert Penn Warren.

The conference, Thursday through Saturday, meets at the Scarritt-Bennett Center and Vanderbilt University's Buttrick Hall.
