ATLANTA (AP) -- There's no dancing in the offices of Tennessee film officials as the Hollywood film Footloose opens in movie theaters.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Tennessee desperately wanted this year's remake of the 1984 movie to be filmed in their state. Tennessee film officials said the new Footloose, with its $25 million budget, would have been a great boost to the state's movie-making industry.
Tennessee officials thought they had an inside track, since Craig Brewer, the writer and director of the remake, lives in Memphis. His original version of the script even set the action in a fictional small town in Tennessee.
But when the cameras started rolling, the filming sites were in Georgia.
The movie credits state that filming locations included Acworth, Covington, Kennesaw, Senoia and Stone Mountain.
