KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A brewer of a popular brand of imported beer has reportedly recalled more than 2.76 million bottles of it.
Het Laatste Nieuws in Belgium reported on Wednesday that Anheuser–Busch InBev had pulled 9,800 hectoliters of Stella Artois because of an error that allowed it to accidentally mix with a stronger Belgium beer before it was placed in barrels.
The paper, which has the highest circulation in Belgium, went on to report that the mixture resulted in bad smelling, sour tasting beer that drew a lot of complaints from dissatisfied customers.
No statement or recall notice has been posted on AB InBev’s website.
Stella Artois can be found in grocery stores and bars across East Tennessee. It is unclear how much of the tainted beer has actually made it to shelves in the United States.
