TOWNSEND, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Rescue crews with the Townsend Volunteer Fire Department pulled nearly a dozen people from the Little River Sunday afternoon.
According to Chief Don Stallions, 11 people were rescued after the river rose to "an unsafe level" while they were tubing.
The first call came in around 12:30 p.m.
Chief Stallions told Local 8 News the children and adults were rescued within an hour and a half. He said they suffered minor scrapes and bruises but no one was injured.
The Blount County Fire Department and Blount County Sheriff's Dept. also responded to the scene.
