Teen's death shocks two East Tennessee communities

KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- An Oliver Springs high school student died Monday morning after falling off a pick up truck Sunday night.

17-year-old Brady Walls fell off his friend's truck while returning from a hunting trip on Coal Hill Rd. near Coalfield High School around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Walls and another teen were sitting on a dog box in the bed of the truck when Walls fell into the road.

He was taken to the hospital by Lifestar and died at UT Medical Center Monday.

Investigators say there is no indication of alcohol or drugs or reckless driving.

Local 8 News heard from Brady's friends it's a difficult time for many.

Brady Walls was a student at Oliver Springs High School, but spent most of his life in Coalfield.

Those we spoke to say he was loved by many, young and old.

Close friend Megan Jackson said, "Brady was a sweet person, he didn't deserve. He was the best friend."

Jackson grew up with Walls, and was there when fell from the truck.

Jackson tells us, "It's shocking, everyone who was there last night will never be the same."

Nathan Phillips and his kids were fishing alongside Walls on Sunday ... just hours before his fall.

Phillips says
"I just hate something, I just, I hope that the Lord's with him, I pray for the family"

Jackson says she doesn't have just one favorite memory, but many, all of them of the good times with him.

"And somebody as sweet as Brady you don't see it happen, it's changed a lot of people's lives, it's devastating."

There is a Facebook page dedicated to Walls called Prayers for Brady Walls.

A candlelight vigil will be held Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. in Oliver Springs High SChools
