Good Deals on Thanksgiving Dinner

KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- Grocery stores shelves are stocked and ready for Thanksgiving, even for the budget conscience shopper.

We headed out to a couple grocery stores to find the best deals on Thanksgiving dinner for you and your loved ones.

"We bought everything for a traditional meal turkey, pies, green beans corn sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes stuffing,” said Joanna McBride as she packed her car full of groceries.

She bought a Thanksgiving dinner at Food City for a needy family at her church.
But she's careful to not exceed 100 dollars.

The following prices were found at Food City:

- Butterball frozen turkey, 20 lbs: $32.00
- Pepperidge Farm Cornbread Stuffing, 3 lbs: $15.00
- Ore-Ida steam and mash potatoes, 3 lbs: $18.00
- Heinz Homestyle Turkey Gravy, 30 oz: $3.25
- Ocean Spray cranberry sauce, 1.5 lbs: $1.50
-Food City Brown-n-Serve rolls, 1 dozen: $1.25
Total cost, $71.00.

“We didn't go over our limit so that's good,” said McBride.

Across town at Fresh Market they sell cooked Thanksgiving dinners. They can be ordered and picked up the day before Thanksgiving.

“For a lot of people it takes the work out of preparing your Thanksgiving dinner,” said Doug Lavender, assistant manager. “All you have to do is take it home, heat it up and serve it. It's very delicious."

That comes with the turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, cranberry relish and rolls for $79.99, $10.00 more than last year, but only $8.00 more than the same Thanksgiving meal at Food City.

We are fairly new to the area and are considering going out for Thanksgiving Dinner. I have unsuccessfully searched the internet and have found nothing. Can you offer any suggestions? THANK YOU.

Notice it doesn't say how big the turkey was at Fresh Market?
