New UT football coach Lane Kiffin poses with his wife Layla Kiffin after he was introduced to the Vol nation as the new top Vol.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- UT Head Football Coach Lane Kiffin and his wife Layla are the proud parents of a newborn son.
Monte Knox Kiffin was born tonight at a California hospital, according to UT Athletic Department spokesperson Tiffany Carpenter.
Monte Kiffin weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and is 21 inches long.
"That's at least a linebacker," ESPN's Brad Nessler joked while discussing the subject during the Kentucky versus Tennessee broadcast LIVE from Knoxville on Tuesday night.
He will go by Knox, a reference to Knoxville, according to Carpenter.
Monte is in honor of his grandfather, UT Defensive Coordinator Monte Kiffin.
"That's how you ingratiate yourself to the hometown fans right off the bat. You know put a little Knoxville in the kid's name. I like it!" Nessler said.
"He should get a contract extension right now," Nessler's partner Jimmy Dykes chimed in.
The Kiffins have two other daughters, Landry and Presley.
