Comair to Pilots: Use "Extreme Caution" in Lexington

Lexington (WVLT/AP) - Comair is now warning pilots to use quote "extreme caution" when navigating runways at the airport in Lexington, Kentucky.

In an e-mail obtained by the Associated Press, Comair's Chief Pilot warns some runway diagrams do not accurately reflect current signs and markings.

The e-mail advises pilots to check with air traffic control if they become unsure of their position.

Just over two weeks ago, Comair Flight 5191 crashed near the Bluegrass Airport after trying to take off from the wrong runway, which was too short.

49 of the 50 people on board were killed.

A week before the crash, a repaving project changed the taxi route leading to the longer of the airport's two runways.
