Mother Charged with Dumping Newborn Ordered to Mental Health Facility
Jacksboro, Campbell County (WVLT) - An Indiana woman charged with premeditated murder after dumping her baby in a rest area trash can has been sent to the Lakeshore Mental Health Institute.
Monday, Carissa Roarus pled not guilty by reason of insanity after undergoing a previous mental evaluation.
Authorities say Roarus dumped her baby girl in the trash at the welcome center in Jellico, not long after giving birth.
A judge ordered her to be in the lakeshore institute by October 16th.
