Knoxville (WVLT) – Family vacation to Florida will soon be a lot cheaper and quicker, right out of Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport.
As we first reported yesterday on FIRST at 4:00, Allegiant Air is coming to Knoxville.
Tyri Squyres, a spokeswoman for Allegiant Air, joined WVLT to officially announce a new direct flight from Knoxville to St. Petersburg, FL LIVE on Volunteer TV FIRST at 4:00.
The self-proclaimed "Official Airline for Sunshine" will launch the new scheduled service from Knoxville's McGhee-Tyson Airport to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport with four flights weekly, with service Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights.
A round trip airfare from Knoxville to Saint Petersburg, Florida for $112 can't be beat, right? We checked, we couldn't find a similar ticket for less than $350. Now, the $112 is an introductory rate, the regular price will be $172.
Wednesday at the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority's monthly meeting the board approved a contract to bring Allegiant Air services to Knoxville.
