Security High as Accused Cop Killers Appear in Court

Kingston, Roane County (WVLT) - A Roane County judge is ordering two brothers accused of murdering a sheriff's deputy and the deputy's friend to undergo a mental evaluation.

Rocky and Leon Houston were back in Roane County Friday.

They are charged in connection with the slaying of Roane Deputy Bill Jones and his friend Mike Brown in May.

Security was tight at Friday's hearing, dozens of heavily armed guards and swat team members stood around the brother's during their court appearance.

Mike brown's mother, says although she expected the insanity defense, she knows the Houston brothers are not crazy and had some strong words for them as they left the courtroom.

"I told him to rot in hell and I hope his brother rots with him, and if I don't see justice here on earth, my god will see to it, cause vengeance is his," says Pat Brown, mother of Mike Brown.

Rocky and Leon Houston's next court date is pending the outcome of their evaluations.
