Tokyo (AP) -- The universe of YouTube is just a wee bit smaller.
The online video-sharing giant removed nearly 30,000 clips Friday after a Japanese entertainment group filed a copyright infringement complaint.
An official from the group says it found thousands of clips, including TV shows, movies and music videos, posted on the site without permission. YouTube quickly removed the copyrighted material.
The site has a policy to take down clips after such complaints are filed. But with over 72 million viewers, it has been able to make licensing deals with several leading copyright holders.
YouTube, online since early 2005, now shows over 100 million clips a day.
