Campbell County H.S. Students Prepare For Anniversary of Shooting

Wednesday marks one year since shots rang out in Campbell County High School.

The accused shooter, 15 year old Kenneth Bartley Junior will soon go before the courts on charges of killing Assistant Principal Ken Bruce and wounding administrators Gary Seale and Jim Pierce.

Volunteer TV's Stacy McCloud was with students Saturday afternoon as they spent their fall break making sure everyone comes together to remember and reflect.

For the past two Saturdays some Campbell County High School students have been forgoing fun on their fall break to pass out flyers and making phone calls inviting everyone to Wednesday's memorial service honoring Ken Bruce.

"We've talked to alot of people and hopefully spread the word."

High School Junior Mary Beth Vinsant is one of those students, trying to make a difference.

Seniors Daniel Norton and Bobby Green say they want the event marking the year anniversary to be as great as Mr. Bruce still is to them.

"Ken wasn't a principal he was a friend he impacted my life a great deal," said Norton.

"I've known Ken all my life and doing this for him makes me feel good," said Green.

The memorial service will be held at the Campbell County High School football field this Wednesday at 6 p.m.

If it rains it will be held in the gym.

Ken Bruce's widow, Jo Bruce will speak along with Jim Pierce and Gary Seale.
