Developing Story: Fulmer Hands Out Suspensions for Arrested Vols

Knoxville (WVLT) - Three Vols now know their punishments for allegedly fighting at a local nightspot following the loss to LSU Saturday.

Coach Fulmer has suspended Arian Foster for half a game, David Holbert for one game and Antonio Wardlow for two games.

The three UT football players were arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly fighting.

Arian Foster, David Holbert, and Antonio Wardlow were all charged with disorderly conduct and underage consumption. Wardlow was also charged with public intoxication.

“The three young men who were arrested let their teammates, coaches, administration and great fans down. Their behavior is an example we certainly remind them about, when immature male ego mixes with alcohol and stupidity," Coach Phillip Fulmer in a statement released Monday afternoon.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, they were called to Goodfellas Pizza shortly after 3:00 a.m. on a disturbance call. When they arrived they say the three football players and others were shouting. Police say they initially broke up the argument, when Arian Foster shoved someone in front of them.

“The three young men did not leave when they should have, when asked either by teammates or officers. Foster was trying to stop a silly and senseless argument between teammates, typical of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Holbert and Wardlow could have and should have avoided the confrontation. All of them were drinking," Fulmer says in the statement.

“The immature behavior of a couple of guys is certainly not representative of our team’s focus and energy to do the right things on and off the field," senior Vol tackle Arron Sears says in a statement released by the University Monday.

Attorney Don Bosch, who's initially handling this case says, "These are relatively minor misdemeanors for college students to be charged with and in all likeliness their records will be kept clean."
