Knoxville (WVLT) - Over the years, the WVLT Toy Test stories have become your one stop get ready to shop segments.

In Part One of this year's Toy Test with toys ranging in price from $15 to $120.

Volunteer TV's Kiley Yarbrough shows us which toys you can bet will bring cheer to those on your list, ages seven to preteen.

Usually inside this classroom, there is a learning process of reading writing and arithmetic. But on this day, the students in Miss Byrd's 4th grade class are learning about which toys they'll include on their Christmas wish lists.

"I like this toy test a lot," says fourth grader Sarah King.

"There are some toys I wanted to try, I tried them now I know what I want," After a trial run with about 20 different toys out this season, nine year old William Tackett says Tyco's Nsect Radio Control Vehicle tops his list.

The children line up for the chance to play with any of the three radio control toys including Tyco's R.C. Airblade and WooWee's RoboReptile, toys that will cost you from 80 to 120 dollars.

Looking for something a little less pricey? Board games priced around $35 like the Scene It? Nickelodeon game keeps the kids entertained. And Hasbro's Twister DVD Dance Game has both girls and boys on their feet.

"You can pick where you want to be you can be on the beach or at a club," explains fourth grader Madison Burgess.

If your child prefers something more relaxed, the girls really enjoy creativity for kids flower fantasies which cost about 15 bucks.

From arts and crafts to remote control toys, there is fierce competition on this playing field. Another top scoring toy, the ESPN Play By Play.

"Hello this is Madison Burgess and this is SportsCenter."

The Mattel toy that put the kids in the middle of the action will run you about one hundred dollars.

So whether it's a big purchase or a small gift, veteran toy tester Caroline Ward says the WVLT Toy Test helps make the packages she opens a successful match.

"I liked playing with all the toys because last year I got to do it and I got some of the toys for Christmas last year and it was a lot of fun," says Caroline Ward.
