Knoxville (WVLT) - It's not always easy to pick that perfect toy for your child, but some students at the Episcopal School of Knoxville think they know which toys are the winners this season.
WVLT Volunteer TV's Kiley Yarbrough brings you part two of the 2006 Toy Test.
This is what you get when you take about 20 first graders and give them a chance to test the newest toys out this season.
"it's really fun," says first grader Baker Benfield.
"It's cool," adds Zachary Fathy.
The kids immediately took to Fisher Price's I Can Play Piano. It turns standard sheet music into a video game when you attach the toy to your TV or the keyboard can be used for take-along play. The price tag? About 80 dollars.
VTech's Write And Learn Spellboard Advanced was also popular. And good news moms and dads, it's educational, encouraging fundamental writing and spelling skills. You'll find this on store shelves for about $40.
And when asked what their favorite toy was. There was an overwhelming response for one particular item.
"That monster thingy," says Zachary.
"Mmm..that one," Alex Schrubb agrees with his co-testers.
They may not even know what it is called, but there is no doubt "the Matchbox Mega Rig Snow Monster Mission is a hit among the boys.
And when it comes to the girls it is a safe bet to buy a doll.
For about $35, your little girl can truly be the stylist with Barbie's Fashion Fever Grow 'N Style Styling Head.
"We like to dress up the girl," says toy tester Lauren Wise.
And the girl is Polly Pocket. The Pollyworld Rockin Theme Park brings shopping, music and thrilling rides together. The playset includes one doll and many Quik-Clik fashions and accessories.
"I really like the Polly Pocket," says Charlotte Rogers.
It runs about fourty bucks.
And after an hour at play, some of Mrs. Shelley's first graders are just so overwhelmed with all the choices, it's tough for them to make clear just what will top their wish lists.
Typical responses you would expect from any six year old child
And just a reminder, the Polly Pocket game set in our Toy Test is not part of the recall. The ones being recalled were sold before September of this year.
