Knoxville (WVLT) - Investigators believe a heating source is the likely cause of a house fire this morning in West Knox County.
Neighbors noticing flames shooting from the roof of the Farrington Drive home, called it in.
Rural/Metro firefighters responding to the call arrived to see flames covering most of the second floor and attic.
"You know, when you have a one thousand to 1200 degree fire throughout about one thousand square feet of attic, it's gonna progress pretty rapidly throughout the structure and it takes a lot of water to know that kind of fire down," Jeff Devlin, Rural/Metro.
Three people living at the home were not there when the fire started.
The Red Cross is assisting them.
