Washington (WVLT) - A Senate panel voted unanimously to recommend President Bush's choice to head up the Defense Department.
During confirmation hearings Tuesday, Robert Gates told Senators his first order of business as Secretary of Defense would be Iraq.
However he did not say whether the next steps include troop withdrawals.
"In my view all options are on the table in terms of how we address this problem in Iraq," Defense Secretary Nominee Robert Gates said to the panel.
Gates nomination now heads to the full Senate where his confirmation appears to be a safe bet.
