A LOCAL 8 WEATHER ALERT is in effect into Wednesday due repeated rainfall. A Flood Watch is in effect for our area until 7 AM Wednesday. Where there are more pauses in the rain, totals will be closer to 2 inches but some will receive at least 4 inches of rainfall total. Creeks and streams run high and areas with poor runoff could face flooding problems. Busy commute hours could face more slowdowns, with fog and standing water on roads as well.
Knoxville (WVLT) -The ramp from Henley Street at I-40 West has reopened following an afternoon accident.
Knoxville Police say the driver of a tanker truck, carrying hot asphalt was driving up the ramp, onto I-40 just after 11:30 Wednesday morning, when the load apparently shifted.
Investigators say this caused the tanker to overturn, trapping 56-year-old David Yates from Maryville.
Yates was taken to UT Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.
No charges are expected to be filed.
The scene took nearly five hours to clean up.
