Eastern, KY. (AP) -- The confederate flag remains a popular symbol at an Eastern Kentucky high school.
The flag remains a symbol of controversy nationwide, but students at Allen Central High School are embracing it.
Allen Central's welcome sign shows a grinning Confederate soldier, and rebel soldiers and confederate flags cover the walls at the school with an all-white student body.
Students there insist they don't see the flag as a symbol of hatred.
A school board member has been critical of the school's flag and mascot. Mickey McGuire says students at the school aren't being shown how racially insensitive the flag is.
