Southeast Critics Pick 'The Departed' As Year's Best Film

Knoxville (AP) -- The Southeastern Film Critics Association has picked "The Departed" as Best Picture of the Year.

Its director, Martin Scorsese, won Best Director.

Forest Whitaker was named Best Actor for his portrayal of Ugandan Dictator Idi Amin in "The Last King of Scotland."

Helen Mirren won best actress for playing Queen Elizabeth in "The Queen."

"An Inconvenient Truth," the global warming documentary featuring Former Vice President Al Gore, won Best Documentary.

Forty-seven film critics from nine states cast ballots for the 15th annual awards.
