Knoxville (WVLT) - The City of Knoxville Beer Board has ordered an immediate, temporary suspension of the beer permit for Michael's Bar and Restaurant.
According to a release from the city, the board ordered the suspension after an underage Knoxville Police Explorer and an undercover Knoxville Police Officer entered Michael's and ordered drinks on Thursday.
The suspension takes Friday afternoon, and will remain in effect until the next Knoxville Beer Board meeting on January 16.
City also says it will issue a report on the suspension and the undercover operation to the director of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
The order means Michael's will not be able to serve beer during this weekend's New Year's Eve celebrations.
We have not yet been able to receive official comment from Michael's regarding the order.
