Nashville (AP) -- Eight people in Tennessee were killed in traffic accidents over the New Year's holiday weekend.
The number matched the lowest previous total of deaths for the holiday in 1982-1983.
The highest number of deaths ever recorded in Tennessee over the holiday was 19, in 1970-71.
During the latest holiday, four of the eight fatal crashes were alcohol-related.
One of the fatals was a pedestrian, and another was a person driving an all-terrain vehicle.
