Knoxville, Tenn. (AP) -- Knoxville residents worried about their city getting a bad rap are trying to help a Michigan high school's marching band get new instruments and uniforms.
A trailer loaded with more than $170,000 worth of Jackson High School's band equipment was stolen January second from a hotel parking lot in Knoxville.
The band was on its way home from a trip to the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida, where they performed at halftime on New Years Day.
Insurance won't cover all the losses.
Knoxvillians have called and sent letters and e-mails to the school to apologize for their city and some have offered to help replace the instruments and uniforms.
