Morristown (WVLT) -- A Morristown shop owner was shot this evening during a hold up. The incident occured just before 6 PM Saturday evening when officers say Joseph Wayne Hutchens, 29, shot Westside Market owner Mayur Shah.
Hamblen County authorities received a 9-1-1 call minutes later and when they arrived on the scene at 303 Jarnigan Avenue Hutchens was in the parking lot. Police approached him and he fled on foot, traveling several blocks before he was taken into custody.
Shah was flown to the UT Medical Center where he is currently in critical condition.
Hutchens has been charged with Especially Aggravated Roberry and is being held in Hamblen County Jail without bond. He will be arraigned on Monday morning.
