Pelosi: President Needs Congressional Approval To Invade Iran

Capitol Hill (AP) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says President Bush has no authority to invade Iran without specific approval from Congress.

The Speaker's remarks come as a fresh challenge to the President, on the eve of a symbolic vote opposing his troop buildup in Iraq.

In interview Thursday, the California Democrat says she takes Bush "at his word" when he says he supports a diplomatic resolution to differences with Iran. But she adds that "Congress should assert itself" and make clear that it has not given the President authority to go into Iran.
