Knoxville (WVLT) For years in East Tennessee, your best bet for a trip to a casino was to cross the Smoky Mountains and go to Cherokee.

But there's a new lure to get you to say "Viva Las Vegas."

WVLT Volunteer TV's Whitney Daniel has more on Knoxville's first direct flight to that city.

Elvis was there, so was a Las Vegas showgirl, as people prepare to go have some fun in Vegas.

This was all in celebration of Allegiant Air's non-stop flight from McGhee Tyson to Las Vegas.

Allegiant air is priding itself in low cost flights that let you enjoy time at your destination.

Sabrina LoPiccolo with Allegiant Air says, "make a quick jump on the plane and you're there non-stop. You don't have to do all these connecting flights, so it's really exciting for Knoxville to be able to do that, and not go into other cities and do all these connecting flights. You're really going to be able to spend time on vacation with Allegiant, instead of those other things."
