KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) --- Close to 2,000 people showed up.
Laces tied, watches synced, and glow stick necklaces securely fastened.
This was not your average 5k.
The "Glow Run" was ready to kick off as the sun set.
This race, and all the donations, went to a local cause all the way in Boston.
The money goes to Nicole Gross.
Injured in the first blast, Nicole has gone through nine surgeries. Her sister had her leg amputated below the knee.
Now with thousands of feet behind her support is running at full speed.
For those that could not run her family has set up a website for donations at http://www.bestrongstaystrong.net/
