Lawmakers Propose Fluorescent Green Plates For Predators

Columbus, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio lawmakers are considering placing fluorescent green license plates on cars of habitual sex predators.

The proposal would join a series of laws that Ohio's passed to crack down on sex crimes against children. An earlier idea to require pink plates for sex offenders was unsuccessful.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio says the latest proposal amounts to political grandstanding. But one of the two legislators who introduced the bill Wednesday says the plates would send parents and children an instant message to beware.

Ohio now requires repeat drunken drivers to display bright yellow license tags.
