N.J. Soldier Killed By Roadside Bomb In Iraq
Chattanooga (AP) -- Military officials said today that the Department Of Defense mistakenly announced that a soldier killed in Iraq over the weekend was from Tennessee.
Sergeant 1st Class Benjamin L. Sebban of South Amboy, New Jersey, was killed Saturday when an improvised bomb exploded near his unit northeast of Baghdad.
The official announcement of his death released by the Pentagon listed his hometown as Chattanooga, but a spokeswoman for the 82nd Airborne Division said this was incorrect.
Unit members said he was from New Jersey and he had no known connections to Tennessee. There were no listings for his name in the Chattanooga area.
He was assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
