Knoxville (WVLT) - In the wake of the devastating shooting at Virginia Tech, University Of Tennessee officials are taking immediate action.
University police were more on alert Monday afternoon after they received a bomb threat.
The Humanities Building and McClung Towers were immediately evacuated.
Officials say they aren't taking any chances.
"We always evaluate those for credibility. We don't get a lot of them but every now and then we do. And today, based on what happened in Virginia and just to be extra precautious we decided to go ahead and evacuate the building and check it out," says UT Vice Chancellor for Communications Tom Milligan.
Milligan expects the building to be reopened Monday afternoon or early evening.
