Blount County Lake Drowning

Louisville (WVLT) -- A Nashville man has drowned in the swimming area of Louisville Point Park, on Fort Loudon Lake.

It happened on Sunday evening about 7:45 P.M.

Tennessee Valley Authority officials tell us 28 year-old Gary Fields swam a few yards past a swimming buoy and went under the water.

Emergencies crews responded but by the time they recovered him, they say Fields had been under water for about 45 minutes.

He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Blount Memorial Hospital.

    Gary lived with me since sep. he was like a brother to me. Gary and my boyfriend were bestfriends and we will NEVER forget him. We love him amd will always miss him.

    my three children were at the lake with my friends and gary was my friends also. my three kids saw what happened and they are very upset and saying they will not go back to a lake

    i know this person and the family will need help with burial.he was a real nice and gentle man.he would do anything to help anyone that he could.
