Knoxville (WVLT) - Police are trying to catch whoever stabbed a man just outside a nightclub near downtown.
It happened at Blackstock and Western in the parking lot of the Electric Ballroom. Police say they received a call from a man who said his friend had been stabbed.
Police say they'll be will be following up on leads they've received.
"We've got complainants to interview, there are folks who called in and we want to interview the victim, and I think that, again, it's not a situation where the citizens are in danger," Knoxville Police Lieutenant Shawna Williams said.
First reports called the incident a shooting, but police realized the man had been stabbed after they got there.
He was taken to an area hospital. No word tonight on how seriously the man was injured.
The victim is being charged with assault, and the suspect is being charged with aggravated assault.
