Ruth's Chris to Get Riverfront Property

Knoxville (WVLT) - The Knoxville City Council voted to allow Ruth's Chris Steakhouse to rent prime waterfront property "free."

The current owner, Riverside Tavern, owes the city nearly $86,000 in rent.

That will be forgiven under the proposal.

If there is back rent due on the the waterfront property, why is the city agreeing to let a new tenant occupy rent free? I understand the $86K being forgiven, that 's good business, but what about future monies?
