MORGAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Morgan County Emergency Management Agency officials warned drivers Thursday night that many roads in the East Tennessee county were unsafe because of winter weather.
EMA officials told Volunteer TV News that by around 9:00 p.m., most of the county’s back roads had iced over and were nearly impassable. At the same time, main roads across the county were beginning to ice over.
County road crews were in the process of plowing and salting main roads, but EMA officials said unless it was absolutely necessary, Morgan County drivers should stay in on Thursday night and early Friday morning.
