Lake City, Anderson County (WVLT) - It will soon be a little quieter for one community in Anderson County.
TDOT announced Friday it is planning to construct a sound wall along interstate 75 in Lake City.
The wall will be more than 2,000 feet long and stand more than eleven feet tall.
It will run from Fourth Street to Industrial Park Road.
For residents this has been a long time coming.
"Those folks have been dealing, they're pretty close to the interstate, dealing with noise from interstate since the 1970's, so this is something the government has been able to pay for with federal money,” says TDOT spokesman Travis Brickey.
Sound walls have been built on other projects, but never where a road already exists and a neighborhood has asked for TDOT's help.
