Knoxville (WVLT) -- A woman was shot and part of a Knoxville emergency room was on lockdown tonight after police thought someone brought gun inside.

The Knoxville Police Department locked down part of St. Mary's ER around 9:30 after a 21 year old woman had been shot in an apartment complex on West Oldham Avenue in Western Heights.

Her boyfriend drove her and her unharmed one year old daughter to St. Mary's.

Hospital workers initially thought their were two victims because of how much blood was leading into the ER.

The shooting is believed to be part of a domestic assault, but the boyfriend is not a suspect and someone is already in custody.

Police do say he was hostile at the hospital and asked to leave.

The woman who was shot has been transported to UT Medical in critical condition.

He daughter is in state custody.

If you need to go to the St. Mary's ER, walk-in's are still able to get inside, but until they come off lockdown, no ambulances will be routed there.
