TVA Sets New Record for Second Day

Knoxville (WVLT) - It's official, for the second day in a row the Tennessee Valley Authority set a new power peak.

Tuesday, TVA leaders say the power house reached 32,888 megawatts. And based on the forecast, leaders say a new record is possible for Wednesday.

The record last July was just over 32,008 megawatts, but after Monday's scorching temperatures, the new record is set at 32,095.

Here's some tips TVA leaders say can help you save energy and money.

First turn your ac up to between 75 and 80 degrees.

Lower your water heater temperature to 120 degrees.

Use your microwave to cook. It cooks faster and doesn't put out as much heat as a stove burner.
