Maryville, Blount County (WVLT) - A Lenoir City man is facing several charges after police say he led them on a high speed chase with his four year old daughter in the back seat.
Authorities say they originally tried to pull over 28-year-old Nicholas Allen Sentell for speeding, but officials say instead he led them on a chase through Blount County reaching speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.
After the vehicle came to a stop, a deputy ordered Sentell out of the vehicle and two other deputies then took him into custody.
When deputies looked inside the vehicle, they say they found his four-year-old daughter in the back seat.
“The child was fine. No one was injured in the traffic stop. He eventually did pull over,” says Blount County Sheriff James Berrong. “You know, in any case like this, law enforcement has to weigh the dangers of the person in the vehicle, we worry about their safety as well, against the officers' safety, as well as the public's safety.”
Sentell is charged with driving under the influence, evading arrest and child endangerment.
