NEW DETAILS: Deadly Accident on I-40 in West Knoxville

Knoxville (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department is asking for your help collecting information about a deadly car accident in West Knoxville

It happened overnight Thursday on I-40 at the Weisgarber Westbound ramp.

911 callers had reported a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Ali Esmaili of Knoxville may have been going the wrong way, but KPD says he was going the right way.

Witnesses say Esmaili was ejected from the vehicle and later transported to UT Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

KPD asks anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact them at 215-7212.

    There could very well have been another driver, there were several calls to 911 prior to this in the same area, has there not been any sort of description of the car that was apparently driving on the wrong side? !! Maybe he was trying to maneuver away from the wrong side drivers causing him to come off the road

    Isnt there DOT camars in that area that the KPD could watch and has anybody thought that the driver was going in the correct direction and there was another vehicle involved?
