KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Knoxville man was busted by federal authorities this week in a sex sting that involves more than 400 prostitutes.
According to an FBI criminal complaint, Selvin Salvador Perdomo lived in the 5100 block of Papermill Drive.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports the 36-year-old Perdomo was arrested after a year of surveillance at his home and other places by an FBI task force.
The FBI claims Perdomo almost exclusively employed female illegal immigrants. The complaint says Perdomo admitted to transporting the immigrants from Georgia to Tennessee for the purpose of sex acts.
During a four- year period, more than 400 women were recruited by Perdomo.
In an unrelated sting, Knoxville police made several arrests for prostitution.
On Friday, the east and west districts arrested six people and handed out one misdemeanor citation on charges of prostitution within a mile and a half of a school zone.
The sting focused on East 5th avenue, Magnolia and Cherry streets, and the Beaumont area.
