Alcohol suspected in deadly wreck in Scott County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- A Scott County man is dead after a Friday afternoon wreck.

Sonny Smithers was traveling southbound on Mountain View Road in a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina. Investigators believe he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the left side of the roadway striking an embankment.

It appears from test results that Smithers had been drinking.
