KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An Allegiant Air flight en route to Florida had to make an emergency landing at McGhee Tyson Airport shortly after takeoff due to engine trouble Monday afternoon.
A spokesperson for Allegiant says Flight 833, traveling from Knoxville to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport in Florida, suffered a single engine shutdown shortly after takeoff and landed safely around 3:40 p.m.
None of the 133 passengers and six crew suffered injuries, according to Allegiant, and the airline says all are in good spirits.
A replacement plane was sent to McGhee-Tyson with a planned departure time of 6:55 p.m., and is listed by the St. Petersburg Airport as having arrived at 8:37 p.m.
The airline issued all passengers a $75 voucher for future travel.
